Cooperation between Egypt and Jordan was discussed when the Minister of Investment, Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin met the Ambassador of Jordan to Egypt, Mr. Hani Al Mulki.
The meeting discussed the proposed fields of cooperation to establish joint investment projects to achieve development for Arab countries in the region.
Dr. Mohieldin said that the Ministry of Investment is interested in developing the Jordanian investments in Egypt within the course of cooperation between the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones and its Jordanian counterpart.
Jordanian investments in Egypt witnessed an upsurge during recent years and cover several sectors most notably industry, service projects and agricultural and construction projects.
On the other hand, Dr. Mohieldin met the Ambassador of South Korea to Egypt, Mr. Dal Ho Chung and the South Korean Commercial Counsel in Egypt. The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, Eng. Asem Ragab.
The meeting discussed the development of Egyptian-Korean relationships. Dr. Mohieldin said that in spite of the development of the volume of Korean investments in Egypt, they are still beyond the desired level especially with the economic developments in Korea, where external investments exceeded USD 73.5 billion by the end of July 2007.
It was agreed to design a special program to enhance Korean investments in Egypt via a number of official delegations and companies to introduce the investment climate and opportunities in Egypt especially in infrastructure, automotives, drug industries, technology, electronic industries and financial services and introduce the Korean experience in developing the role of small and medium-sized enterprises.
The Korean Ambassador said he is very interested in encouraging Korean companies to invest in Egypt which has a promising market especially in sectors familiar to the Korean side in terms of experience and financial surpluses.
