There are 15 commercial ports and 30 specialized ports (tourism (6) petroleum (14) mining (7) and fishing (3).

• Alexandria Considered the main port in Egypt, it handles over 55 per cent of Egypt’s foreign trade. El Dekhila port is considered a natural extension to it.
• Damietta Port is the leading Egyptian container handling port. Damietta port handles more than 1.15 million TEUs, about 40 per cent of the total containers handled in Egyptian ports.(87 per cent are transshipment containers)
• Port Said Port is considered one of the main Egyptian ports due to its distinguished location at the crossroad of the world sea trade route between East and Europe via the Suez Canal
• East Port Said Port is located east of the northern entrance of the Suez Canal with 2,200,000 TEU capacity.
• Suez Port is playing an important role in both cargo handling and Suez Canal transit operations.
• El Sokhna Port Joined by road to Suez and linked to the industrial zone by railway, the initial area of the port covers 23 million meters2.
• Maritime activity in Egypt’s ports is rising rapidly.
