El Sokhna Port
· El Sokhna Port is the largest and first privately owned and operated port in Egypt. Managed by Sokhna Port Development Company .
· The new port was developed under a BOT contract, with total investment of EGP 3.4 billion located about 40 km south of Suez on the Red Sea,
· Sokhna offers a modern deep water facility capable of handling post Panamax vessels (ships that are too big for the Panama Canal).
· The port has the capacity to handle 1.7 million containers per year.
East Port Said
· The port area is 22.5 km2 with 12 km total of berthing.
· The establishment of a second berth East Port Said is being studied. A group of investors has begun procedures to construct a berth on the western side of the Suez Canal, mainly to serve iron and steel projects as well as heavy industry at the East Port Said industrial zone.
