IBM


The IBM Cairo Technology Development Center (TDC) is the largest software development lab owned by a multinational company in the region, employing a team of highly qualified and certified technical professionals, which is expected to grow to around 450 people in 2005.

TDC is a major IT exporter in Egypt. Over 99 percent of its services are delivered to IBM labs and customers in the USA and Europe. TDC is particularly active in terms of research and innovation. More than eight patent applications have been filed in different areas of technology

Orascom

Orascom Telecom Holding S.A.E. (OTH) was established in 1998, and has since grown to become the largest and most diversified GSM network operator in the Middle East, Africa and Pakistan. The company’s subscriber base has grown considerably, and now stands at over 8 million.

In record time, OTH built and operated a mobile phone network in Iraq, with a full commercial launch named “Iraqna” in January 2004 and plans has been set to reach 1 million subscribers.

MobiNil

MobiNil signed an agreement with Vodafone Egypt and the national fixed-line provider Telecom Egypt (TE) by which the two private operators will pay LE 1.24 billion over a period of four years to the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority for the use of the 1800 MHz spectrum in order to improve performance and continue to provide high quality service.

LINKdotNET

LINKdotNET has become the dominant ISP (Internet Solutions Provider), serving the Egyptian and Middle Eastern Internet markets with over 550 employees through its offices in Egypt, UAE and the KSA. LINKdotNET is a subsidiary of Orascom Telecom Holding Company, and has the advantage of the backing and considerable technical and financial resources of the largest integrated telecommunications services provider in the region.

LINKdotNET launched a new data network based on Juniper routers in 2003, gained certification for its Infonet help desk and was a global finalist in the Microsoft 2003 Certified Partner Awards.

LINKdotNET was also nominated in the “Integration Solution of the Year” award category for delivering a high-end comprehensive solution that was key to Egypt’s e-government project, and was chosen to represent the Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa regions.
