 Mohieldin, US CH2M Hill Officials Discuss Infrastructure Projects  [11 March 2010  ]

Representatives of CH2M Hill, a large American corporation that offers an assorted range of environmental and engineering consulting services within the U.S. and internationally, analyzed the corporation's business and worldwide projects when they met with the Minister of Investment, Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin.

CH2M Hill discussed its various projects in Egypt, azs well as globally, such as improving and widening water drainage networks, establishing water supply systems, the Maadi Tunnel project and other infrastructure tasks.

The meeting went over infrastructure projects supervised by the Ministry of Investment set to be carried out under the public private partnership (PPP) scheme. Projects are available along the newly constructed Upper Egypt-Red Sea Road, the North-West Suez Gulf Economic Zone (SEZONE). There are also other propositions such as the development of ports, new and renewed energy, as well as roads and tunnels.

"Egypt has a promising market with a large economic base and high growth rates. Egypt's economy has secured a growth rate of 4.7 percent despite the tough global downturn," said Dr. Mohieldin.

The minister designated the General Authority for Investment (GAFI) to continue cooperating with CH2M Hill officials for regular updates on the major proposals available for CH2M Hill. This will in turn boost economic growth and attract more investments to Egypt.

The meeting was attended by Ahmed Amin, Chairman of SEZONE General Authority, Nivin Ashafie, GAFI Deputy Head, and officials from the Ministry of Investment and GAFI.
